The Architecture of Happiness  |  Alain de Botton

Architecture can play a role in our mental state, our productivity and our overall wellness. The elements in architecture that create happiness is individual. This means that taste and style, both subjective, are huge aspects for creating architecture. It is not the big villa that gives people happiness, but rather the way light entrance the living room or the window facing the garden. That means that even in small, low cost buildings architecture can be created to achieve happiness.

This book is a bundle of project where architects received projects from other architects with the question to change them. Through this the ideals of the original architect and the new architect are highlighted. It shows that over time, through history, the ideals within architecture change.  With this the chance to enhance buildings to make them fit within our society. This book shows that old buildings can be renovated and re-used to fit our nowadays standards.
